I am specialist in embodied sexuality in training through the SOMA Intimacy Institute.
As part of my professional development and supervised practice I am offering free accompanying sessions, 1:1, couples/polycules or groups. These can be online or in-person, in Lisbon or Évora district.
This is an exchange: I gain opportunities to develop and grow in my practice, and you, in your learning around relationships, intimacy and sexuality.
My path here has been linked to personal and spiritual development, human rights and social justice — with a focus on children and youth, and themes linked to gender identities and sexual orientation.
I've always been interested in the world of sensations and their potential for human development. An interest in sexuality has been a constant in my life. My mum tells me how I used to correct my primary school teacher when she used metaphors to describe 'how babies are made'. I'm in a period of transition in which I'm mobilising all my skills in education and holistic and somatic approaches to the service of accompanying and transforming experiences of intimacy and sexuality.
I am a Portuguese, white, cis-gendered, “homoflexible”, married man. I was a gender non-conforming child that grew up in the suburbs of Lisbon, and I currently live in Redondo, Alentejo. I am telling you all this because I own the filters my identity creates, and because knowing these things about me might matter to you.
“SOMA Intimacy is based on the lived experience of the body as a path of exploration and transformation.” — from the website
I offer a curious listening and permission to be yourself, without judgement. Together we create a learning space, using somatic practices, that help you explore themes in your intimate, erotic, and sexual life.
A typical session lasts 1 to 2 hours. We start with a brief conversation about what brings you to the session and your intention. We decide together which practices will allow you to explore your questions, and at the end, after a moment of integration, we talk about what we learned.
There are different things you might find in a session. Sometimes it’s just permission to feel and share your experiences and your identity. Other times, you might get a little information that helps you on your quest. Most of the times we use body awareness (somatic) practices that help you bring light to questions around sexuality.
Some of the practices we can use in a session include: Somatic Self-Regulation, Embodiment Techniques, Wheel of Consent, Sensation Mapping, Meditative Touch, Boundary Exploration…. and many more!
…any combination of the words in these two columns. ;-)
The most important: You are always in the driver seat. You define your intention, and the boundaries in which you can explore safely.
I follow ASIS Ethical Code of Practice: I am always clothed, and touch is only one direction (from me to you) in service of your intention, our learning agreement, and your somatic awareness.
You can virtually bring any topic from A to Z. In the session we decide together what kind of support can be offered through somatic awareness.
Here is a (small) sample of themes you can explore with me:
Anxiety • Boundaries • Communication • Desire • Excitement • Fear (of intimacy) • Guilt • Hyper or hyposexuality • Image • Jealousy • Kinks • Libido (mismatch) • Mistrust • Neglect • Orgasm • Performance (anxiety) • Questioning (identity) • Responsibility • Shame • Trauma • Unfulfilling (sex life) • Vulvas and Penises • Withdrawal • X-rated • Yearning • Zestlessness
Let’s have a 15min conversation where you can clarify all your questions.
